Musco Lawn is the place to be

If you’ve ever taken a college campus tour or scrolled through a university’s Instagram page, you’ll notice one thing they all have in common: a thriving, vibrant green.
These iconic lawns aren’t just pretty landscapes — they are the heart of campus life. This is the place you’ll look back on when reminiscing about your college years and remember all the hours spent on campus with your friends under the radiant California sun.
At Chapman, we don’t quite have that yet — but we have the potential. Our class campaign, Gather on the Green, is all about using Musco Lawn to its fullest potential. While students hurry between Argyros Forum, the Starbucks patio and the Attallah Piazza, Musco sits quietly, mostly unused.
Musco Lawn is waiting for us, and it’s time we change that.
We can achieve this, not with forced events or flyers alone, but by helping students rediscover the simple joy of being outside together. Right now, students pass this rolling green without a second thought, choosing the more crowded areas instead. Meanwhile, Musco Lawn has the potential to become the place where Chapman students casually meet up between classes, eat lunch, toss a frisbee or study in the sun.
College isn’t just about lectures and deadlines. It’s about connection. It’s about spontaneous conversations, people-watching and gathering in the place that brings us all together.
We have now started Musco Mondays, hosting giveaways, club get-togethers and spotlighting the space on social media to spark a movement. Musco will always be there, even if it’s a quick ten minutes to soak up the sun.
Even though our class will end and the campaign will wrap up eventually, don’t let our timeline affect your willingness to go, but think of this as the beginning of what could be.
Let’s be real — Chapman’s beautiful. But what it’s missing is that central spot where students gather together. Musco Lawn can be that.
So bring your friends, bring a blanket and let’s gather on the green.
We’ll see you there.
