Crispy chicken tenders, creamy custard milkshakes and bragging rights are all on the menu at Bruxie.
Bruxie is inviting Chapman students to go head to head with University of Southern California (USC) and University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), with free tenders on the line for the school that comes out on top.
The “Bruxie School Shakeoff” is the friendly competition Chapman is included in. Bruxie will award the campus that buys the most milkshakes during the week of Sept 20-26.
The winning school’s prize? Free, deliciously seasoned and crispy chicken tenders with fresh waffle fries on Sept. 28, while supplies last.
Bruxie’s slogan, “Unconventional Waffles. Unforgettable Flavor,” proves true. The Panther was given a lineup preview of the milkshakes and the next level crunch tenders that all had unforgettable flavor.
Chrstine Nguyen, part of Bruxie’s marketing team, and Sean Shiva, director of operations, shared their thoughts on not only the menu at Bruxie, but on the challenge too.
“One of the best things on our menu are the custard shakes,” said Nguyen. “They're so fresh and we make them with the best ingredients.”

We were given every milkshake flavor you could imagine: from cookies and cream, to strawberry, orange dreamsicle, bananas foster and even pumpkin spice. There is no shortage of options to choose from.
Cookies and cream, their most popular flavor, had a thick, creamy and nostalgic take on a classic flavor.
“The strawberry milkshake has a fresh strawberry puree, so you get that fresh pop with the frozen custard,” Shiva said, recommending it as his personal best combination with the tenders.
The bananas foster was comfort in a shake. It had caramel, fresh banana, cinnamon and their homemade whipped cream that gave a homey flavor.
“I personally like the orange (dreamsicle) shake,” Nguyen said. “It is so good and it’s nostalgic for me because it reminds me of Orange Julius.”
In the roundup of shakes was the pumpkin spice shake, a seasonal and newly released favorite, emulating the upcoming season of fall all in one cup. The rich milkshake had notes of pumpkin and cinnamon while being topped again with their fresh whipped cream.
Lastly, to taste test, we were given Bruxie’s next level crunch tenders, which will be the prize for the winning school.
The warm, seasoned tenders were juicy on the inside and had a light, yet perfect crunch to the crust, and the iconic waffle fries were the perfect side to complete this full meal.
Being so close to Chapman campus, this Bruxie location can be the hub to fulfill your cravings.
“We keep our ingredients really good and fresh and we really try to connect with the community,” said Ngyuen.
The community atmosphere at this location is what really puts Bruxie on top. The staff and team that hosted us were very kind and welcoming.

Max Pierangeli, a sophomore public relations, advertising and entertainment marketing major at Chapman who also works at Bruxie explained his experience as a Chapman student and employee at Bruxie’s location in Orange.
“The community around my coworkers is such a pleasure to be around,” said Pierangeli. “I love being around all the people and my supervisors, so I'm very grateful for all of them.”
As a student, he noted that being able to work close to campus at Bruxie’s very first location has been very enjoyable.
“The first milkshake I had was the orange dreamsicle, and it’s really good,” said Pierangeli. “The seasonal milkshakes always do end up being my favorite though, so right now the bananas foster is my favorite too.”
As the “Bruxie School Shakeoff” begins, students should show up and show out at Bruxie to support the local location and for the Panthers to win a free day of tenders.
“We're always changing things up and making things exciting at Bruxie,” said Pierangeli. “ I think Chapman students need to show up for this challenge to support fellow Chapman students that work there too, and just to support a local, smaller business where the food is delicious and everyone can enjoy it.”
